Data centers can also be built within organizational premises for greater control on IT operations. Such in-house data centers are run by large corporate organizations and involve huge investments in terms of purchasing of hardware, software, hiring of technical manpower, maintenance, and other overheads such as power and bandwidth expenses.

Cloud providers depend on datacenters for positioning their servers at different locations. This provides cloud an added advantage of ensuring availability of services in the event of any event at a single data center location.

Data center suffers from several restrictions. It is not possible to burst the number of servers in a data center based on sudden rise in demand. However cloud services empower users to scale up number of resources due to dynamic scalability of cloud hosting services.

Cloud systems can be built within moments and can also be de-commissioned instantly. This cannot be applied to data centers that may require months or years tp come into existence.

The main difference in the data center and cloud computing is that a data center mentions on-premise hardware while the cloud mention to off-premise computing. Well, the cloud stores your data in the public cloud, while a data center stores your data on your hardware on your premises to store and access data through your local network.

Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage and computing power, without direct active management by the user. The term is generally used to describe data centers available to many users over the Internet.

Data Centre: is from where various hosting providers rent servers from, and provide the same to their end clients,

Data Centres have various racks of servers which are monitored by special team and are under surveillance so the data stored in the data centre are safe and secured, and cooling mechanism to keep the racks safe from any hardware failures.

Cloud Computing:is a network of servers that are interlinked with each other, sharing resources over a cloud rather than a local server or computer.

Rather than keeping files on a proprietary hard drive or local storage device, cloud storage makes it possible to save them to a remote database. As long as an electronic device has access to the web, it has access to the data and the software programs to run it.

The data centre is a storage facility that manages and disseminates data for an organization with its local network. It is designed to meet the specific requirements of the organization’s IT operations. Cloud or cloud computing, on the other hand, refers to data storage and accessibility over the internet instead of the organization’s privately-held data centre.

Simply put, cloud computing is about providing computing services (including servers, storage, databases, networks, software, analytics and intelligence) over the Internet ("cloud"). Such services accelerate innovation, increase resource flexibility, and provide cost savings through high scalability. You typically only pay for cloud services that reduce operating costs, as well as improve infrastructure management and scalability as business needs change.
