A session begins when a user logs in to or accesses a particular computer, program or web page and ends when the user logs out of or shuts down the computer, closes the program or web page. A session can temporarily store information related to the activities of the user while connected. A session cookie is used in web pages for storing information in case the user leaves the web page or closes down their Internet browser.

A session is defined as a group of interactions one user takes within a given time frame on your website.

In case you mean session in GA:
Google Analytics defaults that time frame to 30 minutes. Meaning whatever a user does on your website (e.g. browses pages, downloads resources, purchases products) before they leave equals one session.

The session of activity that a user with a unique IP address spends on a Web siteduring a specified period of time. The number of user sessions on a site is used in measuring the amount of traffic a Web site gets. The site administrator determines what the time frame of a user session will be (e.g., 30 minutes).

There are different tools like pageview.com which help you in recording each session and then give you an option to replay and analyze them.

Each session is one time someone visited your site. In Adobe Analytics, it's called “visit”.

One person may be more than one unique visitor (each browser is a UV); each unique visitor may have more than one session (many, we hope); each session generates multiple pageviews.

In computer science and networking in particular, a session is a temporary and interactive information interchange between two or more communicating devices, or between a computer and user (see login session). A session is established at a certain point in time, and then ‘torn down’ - brought to an end - at some later point. An established communication session may involve more than one message in each direction. A session is typically stateful, meaning that at least one of the communicating parties needs to hold current state information and save information about the session history in order to be able to communicate, as opposed to stateless communication, where the communication consists of independent requests with responses.

A session is defined as a series of related browser requests that come from the same client during certain time period. Session tracking ties together a series of browser requests - think of these requests as a pages - that may have meaning as a whole, such as a shopping cart application.

A session is the total time devoted to an activity. In computer systems, a user session begins when a user logs in to or accesses a particular computer, network, or software service. It ends when the user logs out of the service, or shuts down the computer. A session can temporarily store information related to the activities of the user while connected. A session cookie is used in web pages for storing information in case the user leaves the web page or closes down their Internet browser. For example, this is one way a website can remember what is in your shopping cart if you leave and come back.
