check Google Algorithm Change History.
Check for Backlinks that are bad for your website
go to Google Webmaster Tools and check to see if you have any new notifications

You’re seeing a continuous rise in your email subscriber count and your blog is ranking for new long tail keywords and your search engine rank is increasing every month and you’re getting one natural link after another…
When you open your website analytics…
To find a tremendous dip in your traffic.
You feel shattered.
And frenzied.
And so you come up with a number of possible scenarios.
Maybe it’s duplicate content. Or maybe the Penguin update has changed something else again. Maybe the content you thought was high quality and relevant was interpreted as keyword-stuffy and fishy by the search engine giant. And what’s been said about anchor text and exact match and site explorer and…?
Then, you pause, breathe, and decide to really investigate the issue.
After flipping through some articles on the possible reasons for traffic drop, you realize that you might’ve been hit with a Google penalty.
