Hi Friends

Referral Traffic is simply speaks itself. In SEO or in internet world when traffic comes indirectly from different resources rather than directly from website. It is called referral traffic.

Let me elaborate with example.

Suppose you are looking for web and digital marketing company name Sinelogix in google. You search company directly in Google and find it. This path is known as organic traffic and direct traffic.

But when you are looking for company and reach through different platform like Facebook post, Twitter, Ad campaign, Youtube, Blogging sites or any other way to the company page it is refers as Referral Traffic.

The last category, traffic visitors , consists of traffic from visitors who click on a link from another website and then land on your site. Assessing your referral traffic is a great way to assess the success of compensated advertising campaigns, such as banner ads on another site.

When someone clicks on a hyperlink to go to a new page on a different website, Analytics tracks the click as a referral visit to the second site. The originating site is called a “referrer” because it refers traffic from one place to the next. Referral traffic is one of three statistics tracked by Google Analytics. The others are Search traffic -- visits from a search engine -- and Direct traffic to a domain.

Google's form of disclosing visits to your site that came from sources other than its search engine is known as referral traffic. When a user clicks on a link to access a new page on another website, Analytics records the click as a referral visit to the second site. The originating site is referred to as a "referrer" because it directs traffic from one venue to another. Google Analytics tracks three metrics, one of which is referral traffic. Search traffic, visits from a search engine, and direct traffic to a domain are the others.
