To whitelist an email address just means you add them to your approved senders list. This tells your email client that you know this sender and trust them, which will keep emails from this contact at the top of your inbox and out of the junk folder.

Hi Friends,
A whitelist is a list of e-mail addresses or domain names from which an e-mail blocking program will allow messages to be received. E-mail blocking programs, also called a spam filters, are intended to prevent most unsolicited e-mail messages (spam) from appearing in subscriber inboxes.

Whitelist email means you can add E-mail addresses in bulk to the Safe Sender's list, you can help ensure that messages received from specific sending IP addresses don't get marked as spam.Do this by adding the addresses to an email whitelist in your Google Admin console.

Email whitelist setting in the Spam section. Or, in the search field, enter email whitelist. Enter the IP address of the sending mail servers you want to whitelist. To add more than one IP address, enter an IP range in CIDR notation or separate each IP address with a comma.

Whitelisting is a quick, one-time-only task to ensure the sender of an email gets added to the recipient's address book or safe senders list.

In computing, a blacklist is a basic access control mechanism that allows everyone access, except for the members of the black list (i.e. list of denied accesses). The opposite is a whitelist, which means allow nobody, except members of the white list.
