Creating better content requires weightage on both - topics as well as keywords to hit two brids with one stone.
You are not going to create separate topics for crawlers & users - utilize your one blog for both.

Keywords are very vital, valuable and high return activites in the search marketing field.
Basically ranking for the "right" keywords can make or break your website. It's a way to learn more about your customers as a whole.
Choosing a right keywords can be quite tricky. Experts take a lot of time when they are choosing the right keywords, my suggestion is you should do that too. Why? Because each and every website has to be analyzed.
