If you’ve built a website and started to learn about seo you are probably familiar with the term alt text. Put simply, alt text (also referred to as alternative text or alt tags) are used to describe the images on your web page.
Example of an image we used in a recent: Yola blog post.

Also called "alt tags" and "alt descriptions," alt text is the written copy that appears in place of an image on a webpage if the image fails to load on a user's screen. This text helps screen-reading tools describe images to visually impaired readers and allows search engines to better crawl and rank your website.

Search engines, read words not images. Having alt text on your images allows engines like Google to better read the image. Armed with this information Google better understands the page content and is able to give users better results when searching for images.

"Alt" tag is an additional essential factor in SEO. If you use the "Alt" tag you are telling search engines that it is the image that you are searching for. (to searchers)

It is also used to display the written text in the "Alt" tag when something went wrong on the website or server.

I hope, this helps. Thanks in advance.
