Google Chrome is a web browser (like Firefox, Opera, Internet explorer <- don't use that one - and Microsoft Edge). A web browser lets you visit a webpage by clicking on a link in another webpage, clicking on a shortcut on your desktop (this is like a link) or entering the address into an address bar. Once the web browser knows where you want to go it contacts that website and asks for all the text, images, video, sounds and how all that should be laid out. The web browser then interprets all this and shows you what you wanted to see.
