Hi Friend,
All data in Meet is encrypted in transit by default between the client and Google for video meetings on a web browser, on the Meet Android and Apple® iOS® apps, and in meeting rooms with Google meeting room hardware. Meet recordings stored in Google Drive are encrypted at rest by default.

Yes, there are no reported issues safety issues about Google Meet. Google has taken safety measures to prevent the leakage of meeting credentials, especially during lockdown time.

Google meet also would be a good alternative to CISCO Webex and Zoom because they have a lot of network and security issues which makes them unsafe for confidential meetings.

Google Meet is more secure than Zoom. It encrypts messages but doesn't use end-to-end encryption. ... This means that they are only encrypted between your device and Google's servers. However, unlike with Zoom, Google Hangouts Meet video meeting links can be made only available to people within an a business.

Meet is very secure and can't be 'hacked', entry to a Meet is only possible on request, unless using a school managed account, unless the school admin has not followed the recommended google advice for preventing students to create video calls, or are not using a gsuite for education account.
