organic results are free and hold the position for a long time while paid listings will display the website till you pay. once you stop the campaign, your site will disappear from the top position.

The difference between organic search vs. paid search is simple: it's the cost. While organic search focuses on unpaid rankings in search results, paid search focuses on paid rankings. With organic search, companies use SEO to optimize their site's visibility or rankings in search results.

Organic search results are the Web page listings that most closely match the user’s search query based on relevance. Also called “natural” search results, ranking high in the organic results is what SEO is all about.
Paid results are basically advertisements the Web site owners have paid to have their Web pages display for certain keywords, so these listings show up when someone runs a search query containing those keywords.

Organic search results are the “natural” results found underneath the ads in the SERPs. They are natural in the sense that the search engine algorithm analyzing all the pages across the web felt these pages contained the most relevant information for your search.
Paid search results are basically ads paid for by businesses in order to rise above the organic results in the fastest way possible Marketers invest money into SEM in order to boost their website to the first page with using some specific keywords.

Organic search traffic comes from people finding business links among search engine results. ... Paid search traffic is attributed from visitors clicking on a link in an advertisement or sponsored listing that a business has paid for in order to appear at the top of search results.

Listings sold to advertisers for a fee. Also known as “paid placement” or “pay-per-click.” Paid Listings or Pay-per-click (PPC) marketing is a way of using search engine advertising to generate clicks to your website, rather than “earning” those clicks organically.
