Alt-text is an alternative bit of information for an image or multi-media part of your site. Anchor text is the wording used for the internal and external links on your website.

Yes, anchor text are considered as very strong internal links or deep links… they may help in keyword ranking. Alt tag can be used in images only. Creating text links will definitely help your rankings. Target particular keywords with the exact page will do it for you.

Search engines are unable to read the images and they can only understand the image by alt text. Anchor texts are the words basically on which internal or external links are hyperlinked.
