Top-level domains, or TLDs for short, represent the highest level of name resolution in the domain name system hierarchy. As a domain component of the highest level, a top-level domain always appears as the last part of a web address (to the right of the last dot), which is why TLDs are also referred to as domain endings .

Top-level domain (TLD) –also known as extension domain– is the last part of an Internet domain name (e.g. corp.company or info.company). TLDs are also known as domains and have been introduced in 1985 with the purpose of prioritizing your business as a recognized entity online. With the support of one ccTLD, you can obtain the brand recognition and trust globally that is important for online marketing and competitive advantage, facilitating user interaction, embracing new technologies based on open source software, or to develop a community around your product or service. In order to obtain this asset, it's essential to choose the right TLD for your business objectives and assess whether you want to stay with one country (.com), country (.es), region (.es) or nation (.fr). At Foundation Capital we are committed to assist you throughout this process.
