If the site manages to have pr with duplicate content it may be seen as a relavent link. But sites on the same file server don't benefit much from cross linking.

As per my knowledge google also crawls content not only just the link. So if the content is duplicate then it doesn't mean that it is quality backlink. I suggest you to decrease the amount of duplicate content in different links.

i am still confused whether backlinks are important for indexed backlinks are important. If the content is duplicate then it is deindexed by search engines so the backlinks as well. So in my opining, indexed backlink from unique and relevant content is beneficial.

Not much, google wont give much value for the link if you the links are from similar content.
If you are submitting articles it always better to have multiple articles.

Never ever used it. I never preferred to used duplicate content. This will never get you positive effects. I never recommend someone like you to do this kind of copy-content strategy. I think you pointing to articles, A single article posted in to 10 articles site and get listed. Then surely its a duplicate content for remaining 9 articles sites except the site which had crawled first. Getting links from such articles is waste.

Duplicated content as backlinks are very hard to index, especially these few weeks I've been monitoring all client's projects for indexing, and it seems like unique content get almost 80%+ index rate in our system.

That's why I recommend profile / bookmarking link user to spin their content, avoid direct linking (use anchor text), get links from PR1 and above... all these would greatly increase your index rate!

You might be able to get links from duplicate content, but the links may hold no link juice. One thing for sure google doesn't index duplicate content. After the panda update it has become increasingly important to get links from unique content.
