The Google Sandbox refers to a metaphorical term to explain why most new websites have very poor rankings in Google Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS). It is commonly believed that Google has a filter that places all new websites under restrictions for a certain amount of time to prevent them from ranking. The new websites will be relegated to the sandbox once Google knows about the site.

Google Sandbox and What to do When You Get Banned: Many website owners and SEOs believe that Google's sandbox is much more than an urban legend, but this isn't true. In reality it is an algorithm filter which will block your new web pages from ranking in Google until they get a certain amount of trust - usually around 30 days.

Sandbox lets you experience BigQuery and the Google Cloud Console without providing a credit card, creating a billing account, or enabling billing for your project.
