High-quality web hosting services will definitely be useful for your successful web site. So it is always difficult to choose the right one. Many web hosting companies mainly offer virtual shared hosting and dedicated hosting services.

The basic difference between them is to having site its own server or shares a single server with other web sites. With shared hosting services, many web sites share a single server machine with a single IP. With dedicated hosting, a single machine is dedicated for a single customer.

Hey Guys,
Your Web hosting company can be your site's best friend or worst enemy - depending on the level of service and responsiveness. A successful Web site depends on a good Web host, but it's just as important to select the right kind of hosting account.

Are you willing to share space on a server with other sites or do you need a server of your own? Know the answer before you start shopping.

Virtual web hosting is usually cheaper than the dedicated web hosting service. VPS is slightly slower that the fully dedicated web hosting server, as the VPS host many websites on a single server. In this type of web hosting service, even the IP address is shared.
In virtual web hosting, your website may be linked with some rouge websites which may hurt your website when that rogue website does unethical things and is banned. With that site banned by the search engines, it will affect your website too if your site shares the same IP address as that other site.

The main difference between VPS and dedicated hosting is going to be cost. It is far more expensive to have an entire server to yourself and if you can conceptualize exactly how much raw power a dedicated server can dole out, including the amount of traffic it can take, you will quickly see that very few businesses need this unless they are well into the millions of visitors each and every day with frequent spikes in there, as well. This is what dedicated hosting is for: total control over the server for those who have the skills to run such an operation. If this is you and you have a very serious web project you need hosting for then dedicated hosting is the only way to go.

shared web hosting solution may be the most suitable option at the start of our online venture. Why? Simply because it’s an inexpensive alternative to a VPS or dedicated hosting solution.

The main reason for this is that, the dedicated web hosting server requires actual hardware, operating systems, and other necessary tools only for your own website. Nothing is shared with any other website.

Dedicated server is a Standalone server and Virtual private server (VPS) is a server derived by dividing a Dedicated server into several small servers using some virtualization application. A VPS server offers you with same features that are offered with a Dedicated server. The only difference is the resources allocated to both the servers. A dedicated server will definitely have more resources and a higher price when compared with a VPS server. If you are looking for economical hosting solution with lots of features than you can surely opt for a VPS server. VPS is generally good to start with and later on you can even upgrade to a Dedicated server.

Virtual web hosting is usually cheaper than the dedicated web hosting service. The virtual web hosting server, also called VPS, or Virtual Private Server, or Virtual Dedicated Server, is slightly slower that the fully dedicated web hosting server, as the VPS host many websites on a single server. In this type of web hosting service, even the IP address is shared. In virtual web hosting, your website may be linked with some rouge websites which may hurt your website when that rogue website does unethical things and is banned. With that site banned by the search engines, it will affect your website too if your site shares the same IP address as that other site.

Usually, web servers have an operating system that helps in controlling it. However, virtual web server formed by partitioning a physical server in many servers in specific way so that each partition is a server in itself. These partitioned servers can have independent operating system of each partition.

Each partitioned virtual private server can also be rebooted independently. The physical server that contains all the VPS first boots in the normal way. This physical server then uses a program to boot each VPS inside a virtualization environment that is similar to an emulator. All these VPS are not directly accessed to any hardware on the physical server, so they are booted or started from a disk image.

euk120x240

VPS lies between the shared web hosting servers and the dedicated web hosting servers. Hence, VPS is costlier than the shared hosting, but cheaper than the dedicated hosting service. The VPS is generally slower because VPS produces some limitations as the random access memory (RAM), disk space, and processor time are shared by the virtualization clients use the single physical server with so many independent virtual operating systems being sun simultaneously. Hence, the dedicated hosting service is the answer to all these limitations for the serious users who need complete physical resources of the web server.

The VPS is also called the dynamic dedicated server as the VPS runs virtually, that is, without accessing the operating system of the physical web server.

Dedicated Web Hosting Service

In dedicated web hosting, a physical web hosting server is used only by an individual user. Dedicated web hosting server is not shared like the virtual web hosting server. In dedicated web hosting server, an individual client has full control over the entire dedicated web server, that is, a web server is dedicated to that user’s website alone. If any kind of problems occurs with the dedicated web server, then you just need to contact your web host support and your web host provider will take care of these problems.

If you are ready to pay for your web host’s support staff, it is well and good. Otherwise, if you wish to do the entire business using the dedicated web server, then you will have to hire your own technical support staff.

In Dedicated web hosting server, you will not be having any problems regarding the disk space usage or the bandwidth, as you are the only user on that particular web server and get almost unlimited disk space and all the allocated bandwidth for your website alone.

So, the main difference between the dedicated web hosting server and the virtual web hosting server is that, the dedicated web hosting server is quite costlier when compared to the virtual web hosting server. The main reason for this is that, the dedicated web hosting server requires actual hardware, operating systems, and other necessary tools only for your own website. Nothing is shared with any other website.

You have exclusive use of the dedicated web server and all its resources. However, this is not the case with virtual web hosting server. The virtual web hosting web server, as said in the previous section, uses less resources, are virtually hosted on partitions of a physical web server, and shares the physical server with other users. This makes the VPS quite cost-effective as compared to the dedicated web server hosting.

So, if you are a beginner in this field and you do not expect a lot of web traffic initially to your website, then you should choose the virtual web hosting service, or even the shared web hosting service and carry on doing your online business till your website needs upgrading to the dedicated web hosting service.

You will know when you need the dedicated web hosting service! Once your website gets a lot of web traffic and your bandwidth comes dangerously close to overflow the allocated units to you, and also when the disk space that is allocated comes to overflow the allocated units. It is then that you must seriously consider having the dedicated web hosting services for your website.

VPS Hosting

VPS provides some of the most affordable options available for hosting services. They are very similar to dedicated hosting in terms of virtualization. The client will have a virtual private server which can be used as they please with an allotted amount of resources which can be used by the client and their website(s) needs. The server contains a specialized virtualization software or hardware option which makes it possible to partition several servers from a single physical server. They provide the client with a great degree of control without the responsibility of managing the server.
The server is managed in the background for a VPS hosting option by the hosting company. This option works out well for most clients who do not need the highest levels of access for their hosting needs and rather only need to have guaranteed resources for their websites. Some VPS options also have the ability to share resources in memory when others are not using them. This can make the hosting very affordable and provide websites with some leeway with resources when needed.
Dedicated Server

Dedicated servers make it possible for the customer to have full control of a server. There is no sharing or virtualization of the resources. The client leases the entire server for their personal use. This provides greater responsibility for the customer and makes it possible to have greater control over what they can do with the server. Essentially, they can control what goes on and gets removed from the server in terms of operating system and software. Some dedicated server hosting options can also provide advanced options in which the client can partition the server as needed and distribute resources as necessary.
Dedicated server options can be either managed or unmanaged. Managed dedicated hosting will employ the hosting company as background support for the server and perform the necessary functions of updating, support and troubleshooting. An unmanaged dedicated hosting option will require the client to manage the server and perform all of the necessary maintenance and routine work to ensure reliability.
Ultimately, a customer will have to decide what they need from a hosting service when they consider VPS or dedicated hosting options. The ability to choose between high quality hosting services is up to the consumer of the services. It is always recommended that a customer looks into reviews for the services that they are considering to get a better idea with the experience of past and current customers using the services offered by any VPS or dedicated hosting company.

Selecting the best web hosting is the most important step in your website’s success on the internet.Possibly the most expensive kind of option available. Dedicated is just that, you get a server dedicated entirely to your needs. You can use it to host as many websites that performance allows, run game servers, voice servers or even use it as a mobile workstation.

A Virtual Server account resides on a computer that also houses other Virtual Server accounts, whereas the Dedicated Server is all yours. With a Virtual Server the computer’s hardware resources and associated bandwidth are shared among multiple sites. A Virtual Server is an excellent solution for small to medium sized businesses that want to create a powerful Internet presence. A Dedicated Server is an industrial-strength system of hardware, operating system software, and web server software which you control and to which you have exclusive access. All of the server's powerful resources and bandwidth are allocated entirely to your Internet site, enabling you to offer features and service levels to your customers, employees, and suppliers that go beyond the standard capabilities of a Virtual Server.

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine provided by an Internet hosting service. A VPS, although running in software on the same physical computer as other customers' virtual machines, is in many respects functionally equivalent to a separate physical computer, is dedicated to the individual customer's needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run server software.

Virtual Private Server or Cloud Server model suits small or medium businesses that are looking to optimize their IT infrastructure yet don’t want to incur the higher costs of fully dedicated server hosting. VPS is just like owning a set amount of space in an office building.

A dedicated server is an ideal solution for the medium or large businesses that have outgrown a VPS server. Dedicated servers provide you the full control or nearly full control over your server for its use. Like a VPS, you may choose the operating system or compatible software of their choice which is most appropriate for your business.

There are various key difference between shared hosting and dedicated hosting. In Shared hosting package, there are other sites that are hosted on the server along with your website. A dedicated hosting plan means that your website is the only site hosted on the server. In shared hosting, security will be firewalls and server security applications and programs, but in dedicated hosting security is your response.

As already mentioned in the beginning, most web hosting companies will advertise their shared plans with “unlimited” bandwidth and disk space. But the fact is that this web hosting plan will always have a limit. In other words, you can’t use the “unlimited” space in one go. You can use an unspecified amount at first, and then add more. But only web host gets to decide how much you can use each time. Ask your host about the “soft limit” and

Main Differences Between VPS and Dedicated Server:

One of the Worth highlighting difference you should understand between VPS and Dedicated Servers are from the stem how the hardware is used. Performance of servers are related to the server’s hardware specifications. Given two servers with the same specifications, dedicated servers will always have a performance advantage over VPS servers because they don’t have to share the resources among users and with a VPS server.

Dedicated servers are found to be more secure than VPS Servers (https://www.esds.co.in/vps-hosting). VPS servers face a particular threat that dedicated don’t is the hypervisor. Because Security is easy to rule out. Although both servers come with automatic malware scanning and removal, yearly security audits and more.

Aside from having the coolest name ever, the hypervisor handles creating and managing each of the virtual machines on the server. Most viruses only affect one virtual machine (i.e. a single user account), but in some very rare cases they may actually be advanced enough to bypass the hypervisor completely, spreading to all the accounts on the server.

If you’re starting a business based on security (i.e. legal, banking or government-related), Then you should go for dedicated server for additional peace of mind.
If a web host is putting more persons on the same server, they can make the packages cheaper because their costs per customer will be lower. This makes VPS options much cheaper than the dedicated servers.

Shared Hosting
Shared Hosting includes our Business Class Hosting Plans. Shared Hosting is very similar to living in an Apartment Complex. All residents are in the same location and must share the available resources with everyone. These may include such things as the pool, parking lot, and playground. In shared hosting, all accounts must share the available resources with all the other accounts on the server. These include CPU time, memory, and disk space.

VPS Hosting
VPS Hosting includes our 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB VPS Hosting Plans. VPS Hosting is similar to owning a Condo. While you still share things on the property, you are ultimately responsible for maintaining your own property and repairs inside the condo. There is also significantly fewer residents per building and assigned parking. On a Virtual Private Server, you are allotted resources that are not shared by everyone. The overall CPU time and memory are shared across all accounts on the machine, but at the same time, portions of those resources are always dedicated to each account. This allows for more power and flexibility than being on a shared account.

Dedicated Hosting
Dedicated Hosting includes our Essential, Advanced, and Elite Dedicated Server Hosting Plans. Dedicated Hosting can be compared to owning a house. You are allowed and have access to all resources available on the machine. No one else's account resides on the machine (your house) and would not be capable of tapping into your resources.

The key difference?

A dedicated hosting plan means that your website is the only site hosted on the server. With shared hosting, the amount of disk space and bandwidth you are allotted is limited because there are others sharing the server. You will be charged if you surpass your allotted amount.

When choosing between shared hosting and dedicated hosting, the decision comes down to understanding what your organization requires. While there are pros and cons to both options, it’s also important to understand the differences between shared hosting and dedicated hosting to clarify this vital choice in establishing and maintaining your business.

Sites Hosted on the Server
With a shared hosting package, there are other organizations that host their sites on the server, right alongside your organization.

A dedicated hosting plan means that your organization is the only user hosted on the server.

Bandwidth & Disk Space
With shared hosting, the amount of disk space and bandwidth you are allotted is limited since there are others sharing the server. You will be charged more if you surpass your allotted amount of bandwidth, and penalized if you exceed your amount of disk space – just like a utility.

Even if you’ve fairly purchased resources, some hosts will add extra rules to penalize you for having elements like videos or music—regardless of whether you hit your bandwidth cap!

With dedicated hosting, bandwidth and disk space are dedicated entirely to your organization and its server. There’s no resource sharing, so limitations on the amount of disk space and bandwidth are up to your organization’s requirements.

Costs
With shared hosting, the server’s resources are shared among several users – so operating costs are divided up among the users. This makes shared hosting more affordable, and ideal for smaller organizations or businesses just beginning to establish their web presence.

Because a dedicated server is dedicated solely to one user, it costs more. However – there’s a benefit! With a dedicated server, you’ve got far more operational flexibility to deal with traffic spikes, customize your server or install specialized software to meet your needs.

Required Technical Skill
With shared hosting, your organization doesn’t need a staff with specialized technical skills. Maintenance, administration and security are managed by the shared hosting provider. This dramatically simplifies operating the server. The tradeoff is that it limits what your organization can do.

With your own dedicated server, your organization should anticipate needing IT & webmaster skills to set up, install, administer and manage the server’s overall health.

If that’s too daunting for your organization because of time or money constraints – but you still need the power and space of a dedicated server – fully managed dedicated hosting plans are available at a higher cost.

Fully managed dedicated hosting plans are more expensive than colocated dedicated servers. However, it’s important to understand that the cost of managed services is typically still far less than building, staffing and onboarding your own IT department.

Security
With shared hosting, the hosting company installs firewalls, server security applications and programs. Experts in security are tasked with providing a safe & stable operating environment for the organizations on shared servers.

Securing a dedicated server will be your organization’s responsibility. Configuring software to detect and mitigate threats falls to your IT department, while your hosting company is only responsible for keep your server powered and physically secured.

On a dedicated server, your IT team will be able to control the security programs you install. However, since there your organization is the only user, there are fewer chances to acquire viruses, malware and spyware because of poor neighbors and misconfigured security.

While it seems counter intuitive, there is actually a higher risk of attack vectors being exploited through shared hosting. As the adage goes: “Good fences make good neighbors,” and your own dedicated server is the ultimate “fence.”

Website & IP Blacklisting
Shared servers introduce an interesting risk vector: there’s a chance that Google and other search engines will blacklist your websites because someone else on the server engaged in illegal or discouraged practices like spamming.

Bad neighbors on a shared server can get the entire IP address blacklisted, making your websites practically invisible.

On your own dedicated server, it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll get blacklisted – unless your organization engages in unethical or illegal internet practices. We really don’t recommend that!

Server Performance and Response Time
On shared hosting, unexpected bursts of web traffic could drain the server’s limited bandwidth resources. This leads to slow response times and slow loading times, through no direct fault of your own – frustrating customers and employees alike.

You’re at the whims of someone else’s customers. If your neighbor suddenly and unexpectedly gets popular, you’re stuck in a traffic jam with nowhere to go.

This same traffic jam scenario is very unlikely on a dedicated server. Since you’re are not sharing resources on a dedicated server, you can count on your server to be highly responsive with adequate bandwidth when you need it.

Level of Control
Shared hosting means less control. The hosting company ultimately holds the keys to the kingdom, and makes choices on your behalf. While hosting companies do their best to keep things running smoothly, many organizations require more granular control over how exactly their server is utilized.

A dedicated server offers a great deal of custom options and settings. Your organization will have full control over the server. You can add your preferred programs, applications and scripts to meet your operational requirements.

Dedicated servers offer tremendous latitude to control your operational flexibility and security – which is very beneficial for many businesses with the requisite knowledge and skills.

If you’re looking for a sweet spot somewhere in the middle, managed hosting services offer the speed and flexibility of a dedicated server combined with expert management from seasoned IT veterans – the best of both worlds, at a small premium.

Make an Informed Decision
