Keep in mind shared web hosting means there are other clients on the same server that will be utilizing that RAM, therefore you are not getting 8 GB worth of RAM for your account only. It all depends on how many clients on their shared server and the traffic. In most cases, 8 Gb of RAM sounds good for shared hosting environment.

if multiple clients on the same server, then it is not sufficient..

From a customers point of view, it makes no diference - if the server have 2 GB RAM or 20. What matters is the how much the server is loaded and how well it is monitored.
