Website maintenance query

Hello All

I am a little confused, is the cost of website development is more than the cost of website maintenance? It's tough guessing a price of website maintenance by the hourly plans offered by few sites.

Do we need so much of maintenance after the website is done?

That really depends on what was developed and what needs to be updated. I know that sounds vague, but it really is the truth. If you have static content, then about every 18 months redesign your site. If you have an eCommerce site, you need relatively easy access to maintain it yourself without having to involve your developer. If seasonal, then preparation prior to beginning of new season so the site is launched on time. So what it really boils down to is whether your present developer really served your needs best or whether they created job security.
