Hi everyone,
We run a restaurant website called The Hatter’s Café & Restaurant (https://thehatterscafe.com.au/) based in Katoomba. We’re currently working on improving our online presence and are planning to add an SEO-focused blog section to the site.

We’d love to hear your suggestions on:

What kind of blog topics work best for a local restaurant?

How often should we post to see SEO impact?

Should we focus more on food-related keywords, local events, or something else?

Any tips on structure, content ideas, or plugins/tools that can help optimize the blog for search engines would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your support

That’s a great move — adding a blog can really help with local SEO!

For topics, write about things your potential customers are searching for. Some good ideas include:

Local food guides (e.g., “Best breakfast spots in Katoomba”)

Stories behind your dishes or seasonal menus

Spotlights on your team or loyal customers

Posts about nearby attractions like the Blue Mountains and how your café fits into a day trip

Posting 2–4 times a month is a solid start. What matters most is consistency — even one quality post a week can go a long way.

In terms of keywords, mix it up! Include food-related terms (like “Katoomba vegan café”) and location-based ones (like “where to eat near Echo Point”).

A few tips:

Keep your blog easy to read with clear headings and good images

Link to your own menu or booking pages when it makes sense

Use SEO plugins like Yoast SEO or Rank Math to guide your optimization

And don’t forget to share your posts on social media and update your Google Business Profile — it all helps with visibility!
