Hi

I usually start by targeting 3 phrases per page and then in time see how many it is effective for. Often you have one longer phrase that is made up of shorter phrases so it can be easy to target on the same page (ie tuxedos, tuxedos for hire, tuxedos for hire houston). Any more than 3 and I have trouble creating an effective TITLE.

If it's a very competitive topic on the net, I start targeting moderately popular or more specialised phrases (ie pink tuxedos, pink tuxedos for hire, pink tuxedos for hire south houston) and if I find we do well for them I may shoot for the more popular phrases as well.

Thanks

A site can come up on google results for many keywords. So there is no limit for that. If you are planning on targeting multiple keywords then you should try combinations. A mixture of multiple keywords then you can rank for those sub keywords as well.
If you have time you can optimize for all those keywords but many dont have that time or wealth then they limit to 2 or 3 keyword per page or site.

Well, I`m targeting 1 keyword per site. Anyway, when you take a look at your webmaster tools you will see ranking for dozen other keywords that will bring you SE traffic. Many webmasters are going for 1-3-5 but I think that 1 is best as you will optimize whole site for one specific keyword...

Yes, its really hard to judge for.. if you have more products then the necessity usually varies.. but if you have a specific website which then targeting 3-4 keyphrases is good than 5-6, since SEO needs patience and firstly check if you are ranking good for already targeted kw's than the natural results flows in automatically ... :)

Focus on 2 or 3 main key words for search engine optimization in your main page. But to your surprise you can find your website ranking for so many keywords ( not all in the top rank) pickedup by the search engine from your content.

The whole thing depends on the services you offer. It is advised that you should try and get 3-4 keywords in the homepage and then 1-2 keywords for the internal pages. You can also create a long chain of articles and blogs.

A webpage does not have a specific amount of keywords in the webpage or the website. What really matters is having a good quality content base that will attract more customers to your website. This is very important for the optimization process.

It depends that how many pages or how many type of contents are there on your site. You can target from one to 50 keywords depending upon the size and number of pages.

Manov
04-23-2013, 12:10 AM
More specifically you should target one keyword and its variants for every page of your site. Even though that is true, there are pages that you really can’t optimize for target keywords depending on your business. For instance your privacy policy, your about us page, your contact us page are all places that can be difficult to optimize. Other than that, you should optimize each page for a keyword phrase. The number of pages that you can realistically optimize for target keywords is the number of keywords you can target.

Note that by adding a blog to your site, you can target substantially more keywords than you otherwise could.
Hope that helps!
