How do you measure keyword density on your pages?

Personally, I just count the number of times my keyword shows up. My count is done while viewing the code, so I can see

inside meta tags etc.

Is there a better way?

Keyword Density is occurrence of duplication of provided keyword or phrase in body text on web site. The higher frequency is greater likelihood of a higher ranking in search results.

Hi, I had the same problem before.I really got confused on this part. However, I have joined different blogs and I did actually took note of all their suggestions. I am glad to say that I made it! I am really happy to make things happen. Though lots of steps were considered. But, I have to agree to alenyuli that all you have to avoid as to overstuff your article with your keyword. But, you dont have to manually deal with the computation. Look for some SEO tools online.

I agree with the person here that keyword density is a thing of the past. It's not an effective SEO strategy and often times, the higher your keyword density the more likely it will be considered as spam.

Yes, the simplest way to measure keyword density is to count the number of times your keywords appear per number of words. A better way of doing it is to have Microsoft Word do the counting for you; the simple find tool should suffice.

Keyword Density tool is helpful for webmasters and SEO’s get their positive keyword density for set of key terms. It is important as search engines use this information to classify site's theme and to decide which terms site is related to.

the basic method consists of measuring the number of times a keyword appears on the page as a percentage of the total word count of that page. The complex method consists of measuring keyword density of the page plus the text components in meta tags: Title, Keywords, Alt Text, Description, and Comments. Most SEOs refer to the first method when talking about keyword density though

Is it simply a division of total words by keywords? Or is there a more complex mathematical equation used to determine KW density?

Initially, I had assumed that it was simply total words by total keywords. So, to optimize my site W/O using any tricks, I focused on working the KW into the text as OFTEN as possible. In order to get 8%, GOSH! Every other word, keyword!!! But then I analyzed one of my pages with Brett's tool, and the KW density was almost 50%!!!! Ooopss...certainly doing something wrong. So much work and now I must change this because it will be considered SPAM! So if anyone can help me out with this a bit I would REALLY appreciate it. It's been a headache!

Keyword density is the percentage of any keywords in your web content. If your content have 200 words and you use your keyword 8 times in content then your keyword density will be 4% for these content.

Yes, Keyword density is a very important part of search engine optimization.

Keyword density is the percent that your keyword or keyword phrase are of your web page text.

You may want to look that your competition to see what keyword density they are using.

Your keywords should be toward the top of your page and your keyword phrase be in either every paragraph or every second paragraph depending on your paragraph length.

To calculate keyword density in its simplest form, you divide the number of times that you have used a specific keyword by the total number of words in the text that you are analyzing and multiply the result by one hundred to achieve your percentage.
