Let’s decode the alphabet soup!

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization): Craft content to answer specific questions (think featured snippets, voice search).
SEO (Search Engine Optimization): Optimize for traditional search rankings (keywords, backlinks, metadata).
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): Tailor content for AI models like ChatGPT (structured data, conversational tone).

Key Use Cases:
Use AEO for FAQs/voice search
Prioritize SEO for organic traffic
Leverage GEO for AI-driven platform

I've seen a big difference just by cleaning up my link profile and making it more balanced. Stuffing it with one type of link held my SEO back for months. This guide really helped me figure out what was missing: https://crowdo.net/blog/how-to-build-a-diverse-healthy-link-profile. It breaks down the mix you should aim for, especially if you’re juggling between GEO-targeted content and AEO strategies.

I agree that SEO, AEO, and GEO all play different roles, but none of them work properly without clean data behind them. In my experience, performance only becomes stable after you properly set up cookieless tracking in GA4 (https://cookielessanalytics.nl/en/blog/set-up-cookieless-tracking-ga4), because it restores missing attribution from ad blockers and privacy limits. Once that’s fixed, all three strategies become much easier to measure and optimize.
