PageRank is important to Google because Google gives importance only PR pages suppose if you have 2 websites and 1 has PR2 and 2nd has PR0 so google would give importance PR2 site.

The higher the PR the more trust people put on your site. It does not necessarily follow however that you get high traffic when you have high PR rather you are still called upon to put much time on doing SEO lest you will be burried into the depths of SERPs.

Google PageRank is still important and will probably remain so because it is one of the items Google evaluates to give ranks and traffic to the websites. Of course this does not mean all of the high PR sites are found at the top of the Google pages.

Not everyone has the patience to go about all the pages of the search results. If you have a 3 and above ranking in Google, most searchers will just ignore you. This is the main reason why websites try to attain a high page ranking. To be noticed right away.

I believe if you happened to be linked by a website that has a high PR, it will boost your rankings. It could also happen the other way around. If your site links to those that are promoting spam, your rankings will suffer or worse you will be banned.

I believe that it doesn't affect rankings directly, but it is a simple indicator of some of the variables of rankings. For me, it is a hell of a good way to diagnose my own pages, crawler access, link flow, and etc.

Hi

There has been a lot written and a lot debated about Google’s PageRank, but on one point there is near unanimous agreement. PageRank is primarily determined by how many other web pages are linking into you. Google considers this kind of inbound a link a vote of confidence. But, here’s the trick: Not all inbound links are created equal. Web pages with more credibility that link to you have more “value” to your PageRank than those with less credibility. How is this credibility determined? Why, by their PageRank, of course! So, let’s take an example. Lets say you have your Uncle Charlie link to you from his blog to your small business website. Let’s also say that Uncle Charlie’s blog has a Page Rank of 3 (this is being a little generous because all Uncle Charlie writes about is his dog Sparky and he has limited inbound links). This link from Uncle Charlie will certainly help you – a little bit. It will help you more if you can find 100 such Uncle Charlie websites with a PageRank of 3 and get them to link to you.

thanks

PageRank, are likely to help the ranking if you link, especially if your site has high PageRank. Website owners and administrators need to stay focused on valuable content and are linked to sites of authority.

PageRank is Google's view of the importance of this page"but if you search for anything on google you will see that pages with higher PR list higher than pages with lower PR. So much so that even pages that barely have any mention of the search terms, if their PR is high enough, will still outrank lower PR pages that are purely about the search term

he Google PageRank depends on wholly democratic environment of web by its huge link building as indicator of person page's value. Google understands link as of page A to page B as choose, by page A, for page B. Google looks at above sheer quantity of votes, it also rectify page that casts vote.

I think if your page rank is high, google will put your site in the first page.

I think if your page rank is high, google will put your site in the first page.

Not necessarily. I am sure everybody has seen low PR sites rank better than some sites with higher PR. The ranking in serps is far more important and rewarding than PR or even Alexa ranking. The number seen in the Google Toolbar is updated once every 3 or 4 months, therefore is not quite accurate, not to mention that it's not shown in real time either. Your actual and real page rank is known only by Google, no one else. These numbers everybody is talking about and is waiting to be updated, is only a rough estimation, not the real thing.
From my point of view, PR is not something to be stressed about, unless you are trying to sell your domain or doing link exchange...

I guess what you wanted to say is that PageRank is calculated based on links pointing to a site and if you have good, quality content good links would be pointing to it, thus the PR value of that site would increase. Which I believe is true and would agree with you. That could be taken into account as an indirect link between good content and PR value.

PageRank is important to driving indexing, but for rankings it is nowhere near as important as it once was.
