For Thunderbird or Apple Mail migration, the safest method is to convert Outlook PST emails into MBOX format using a dedicated PST to MBOX converter. PST is Outlook’s mailbox format, while MBOX is supported by Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Eudora, Entourage, and several other email clients. So direct opening is usually not practical.
