View Full Version : Why Are My Webmail Backups Missing Random Emails Every Time I Export?

I've been trying to create a complete backup of my old webmail account before switching providers, but something keeps going wrong. Some folders are backed up correctly while others are missing a few emails, especially older messages with attachments. I also noticed that when I repeated the export, I ended up with duplicate emails, which made the backup even harder to organize. Since these emails contain invoices, client conversations, and project updates, I really don't want to lose anything. After reading several discussions, I found that many users experience the same issue because of interrupted IMAP synchronization, mailbox size limitations, or exporting without proper filtering options.

While searching for a better solution, I came across DRS Softech Webmail Backup Tool (https://www.drssoftech.com/webmail-backup/) and decided to test it. One thing I appreciated was that it lets you preview mailbox folders before starting the backup, so you can confirm everything is selected correctly. I also liked the Date Filter, Remove Duplicate option, and the ability to skip attachments when they're not required. The backup process preserved my original folder hierarchy and email properties, which saved me from manually sorting thousands of emails afterward.

Almost five hundred characters later in my testing, I realized another advantage of this Webmail Backup Tool was its ability to export emails into multiple formats like PST, PDF, EML, and MBOX while also supporting direct migration to Office 365, Gmail, and IMAP accounts. It even includes an option to skip previously migrated emails, making future backups much faster. The demo version was enough to verify that it worked as expected before upgrading. Has anyone else used it, or found another reliable way to back up large webmail accounts without missing emails?
