View Full Version : Why Shouldn't We Use Whois Privacy Protection Service?

I really have regrets why I used Whois Privacy Protection Service when I registered for a web hosting. It was my first time and I want to build a site and monetize it through Google Adsense. But then, when I applied for it on Nov. 16 2010, I still don't have the reply/confirmation from Google. One of their staff said this to me.

"Because you have used the "Whois Privacy Protection Service, Inc." you have to wait for a human to review your site and they may come back and tell you to prove domain ownership."

Until now, there is still no response from them because of that service. Well, that will charge to experience.

Ohh I see.. But I think it's too late. I should have done that before I submit my website to google adsense..

Actually, I'm thinking of removing my Whois Protection and re-apply for Google Adsense but with different Google Account. Do you think this would be effective?

no dont reapply for adsense. they may have already attached your domain with your account (name, address, etc...) and creating a new account with the same domain can get you into trouble.

Did you verify domain ownership through Webmaster tools before applying for adsense? See http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/AdSense/thread?tid=211537ff71d3a27c

Try posting on Google's forum to get some help and hopefully some from google will notice your post.

(Contact your host, tell them you would like to temporarily remove your who is protection, maybe for at least 2 months. But its probably better off you leave your who is protected without interruption if it is the case that you do not have sufficient traffic to benefit from google adsense anyways. This way when an actual google human employee verifies your site, maybe you will be getting a little more traffic by then to monetize with adsense. If you like you can try Adbrite first then go with adsense when they approve and confirm you as owner.) Good solution!!..

I can understand why Google Adwords make people jump through hoops like this but I agree that it can be quite frustrating. As soon as you update the Whois, you will find that it will get back to normal

In general, you can customize this feature via the control panel domain, however, it is usually used for free.

If you do not want to disclose your contact information in Whois, then you can make use of the privacy feature.
Which will hider your contact information from public.. No one is visible to see it.

Adsense might help the web site owner to have a better ranking for their site and it works by drawing more traffic for the web site.

Adbrite might be a good solution for you at this point. Adsense is more than strict but it is worth following the rules and getting on board at some point with that program. Considering the scenario that you have laid out it is best to wait for adsense. I think you should be able to go ahead and get an Adbrite acct. while you improve your guest traffic. Adsense is good but the market is tight and you will need a more than fair number of visitors to make it profitable. Adbrite will give you some good experience in the meantime.

If you like you can try Adbrite first then go with adsense when they approve and confirm you as a publisher. Maybe you will be getting a little more traffic by then to monetize with adsense.

This way an absolute Google agent verifies your site, maybe you will be accepting a little added amount again to monetize with adsense. If you like you can try Adbrite aboriginal again go with adsense if they accept and affirm you as owner.

As I through your message, its sounded that Google Adsense did not reject you yet they are waiting for someone reviewing only or they might need to get into your site manually. Whois privacy protection do have a good and bad advantage so you couldn't blame much on it.

Using privacy protection service for your website can reduce traffic from your website. Decrease in the traffic will severely affect your website to get good page ranking.

The whois privacy protection is needed for those, who have unique domains and not to let anyone know about it. This privacy protection doesn't shows your personal name and address, mobile number to anyone. Even they cannot find, if they use to find with reverse ip techniques.

Having the Whois Protection service for your domain can make your site unpopular despite having the benefit of privacy. One thing that users will want to know is why you want to keep yourself secret. This is very important especially if you are selling or providing a service that involves money. There are just too many scam websites out there that people are becoming more aware of how to investigate sites.

You might want to log it to your domain management then manually disable it (This is if your domain and host are two different providers).

Through this way if an employee of Google verifies your site, it will supply a little more traffic to your website coupled with a sense of ad and monetize. Adbrite is another service which can yield you a good response.

Cut it short, if you found whois Id protection is not useful then contact your provider to disable or release your domain. Re-apply again. Then update us in near future for this review.

I don't get it. Why not? Without WhoIS ID Protect, spammers could obtain your email, fax and postal address easily through your domain. With Whois, you can protect your privacy from spammers by masking your domain contact information.

Privacy protection services substitute your contact info for theirs as the owner (registrant) in the WHOIS. Whoever is listed as the registrant in the WHOIS is considered the legal owner - and is liable for any misdeeds. Registrars will not take that liability - you aren't paying them enough - so they revert ownership back to you at (varying degrees) signs of trouble.

Lesson that you should get Google Adsense approval then only get Whois ID Protection. I think it might not a good idea to sign up a new Google account again , you might just request the registrar to remove the whois id protection then email the Google workers to check it while i believe they did their job more effective compare to Facebook .

Reducing Spam

When your name and contact information is visible in a WHOIS search, you are opening yourself to a great deal of spam. Many marketers will use this information to develop lists to sell to virtually any organization looking to mass email information. This allows marketers to develop niche mailing lists to sell for their own gains while subjecting you to unsolicited email.

Spam could also include unsolicited email from those attempting to earn your business. Website designers, other website owners and other “deals” could easily begin to flood your inbox. Registrations scams, fake alerts and more can also become problematic if your information is made available to the public.
