Cloud simply means that there is no compromise in security, performance, redundancy, availability and at the same time it is the most cost-effective solution.

A cloud-hosted website is opearting on multiple connected servers. Instead of limited to a single server like what we have in traditional hosting services (dedicated/shared hosting), the website now has the access to multiple servers. Virtually, the processing power is unlimited as you can always add a new server and scale up.
Whereas, a dedicated hosting has only one dedicated server managing everything.
Cloud hosting benefits the users from various angles. It’s scalability and cost efficient is the commonly known advantages.
As the technology is highly scalable (load balancing, hardware upgrades, etc), website expansion can be done with minimum limitations. Think about the hassle of migrating your website from a shared server to a dedicated server; think about server crash when your website experienced a sudden surge – all these problem can be avoided easily by switching to cloud hosting.
Cost is another huge plus if you need a lot of processing power. Cloud hosting companies charge their users based on the quantity of computing power consumed. It’s like your electricity and water supply bills – it’s pay-per-use thus gone are the days where you need to reserve massive server powers to avoid website crash from sudden traffic surge.

Hello,
Basically cloud hosting will offer 100% uptime at low cost, where you have to pay for resources your site requires and you order for. Its much of midway for high performance at low cost for you site. For much technical information on cloud you can review : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_computing
Where as in dedicated server the hardware resources are fixed and cannot be increased or reduced at any given time , like you can do it on cloud server.

The main difference between cloud hosting and dedicated hosting is the cost effectiveness involved. In case of dedicated server hosting, you get access to a wide range of resources and you also have to pay for all of them whether or not you use them. However in case of cloud hosting, you have the access to various resources but you only have to pay for the resources that you have used.

Cloud hosting is now applicable to the organizations of all sizes.. With cloud hosting payment can be made only for the resources that are used but with dedicated servers you are in need to pay for all the resources that are provided.. Cloud hosting would give you a better solution with higher quality and flexibility than the dedicated servers..

One of the unique features of VPS Hosting is its capability to offer a dedicated like environment to users. On the other hand the cloud hosting is one new solution that is comparatively pretty new to the hosting industry. A Cloud hosting is basically a cluster of multiple servers, and the computing resources of these servers are shared between each other.

The advantage of cloud hosting is that you can use the bandwidth you need rather than paying for a certain amount. With dedicated hosting you will be paying for a specific amount whether you use it or not and you can't exceed this. With cloud hosting you can have more when required and only pay for what you are using.
Cloud hosting is better for websites whose traffic varies a lot.
There are advantages at both types of service, much depends on you particular needs.
May recommend hostv.com as the provider for quality dedicated hosting.

cloud testing is best because it divides all data into different different servers and decrease load time of website. also sequare your data.
Cloud hosting offers great deal of flexibility and reliability and it works on the basics of cloud computing. It uses scaling technique to expand itself when needed. whereas dedicated servers have fixed space and bandwidth.

Good way to gauge your needs is we always look at the length of our project. It's great with the cloud hosting to be able to release and take down servers in minutes

The differences between a dedicated server vs Cloud Computing is essential and the choice between the two should be based on individual needs. For those who are expanding in a market based on the Web, you should consider carefully before making a commitment.

A reason to choose a cloud platform is the fact that on some of them you can run both Windows & Linux apps from the same account. To achieve this on a single dedicated server is not possible.

In basic terms loud hosting is a web hosting service which is connected on multiple servers and it is also called clustered hosting. Cloud hosting is used to solve the problems of mutual hosting. Cloud hosting provides us with server clustering, instead of using the power of one server, you have access to the power of many; linked together through visualization. The benefits of cloud computing clearly include the cost savings that come with economy of scale, but also include a number of other benefits such as : Lower Costs, Cap-Ex Free Computing, Deploy Projects Faster, Scale as Needed, Lower Maintenance Costs, Resiliency and Redundancy and a higher level of reliability.
And Dedicated hosting is a type of Internet hosting where the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone. Dedicated server is the one that hosts multiple applications and files all at one place and allow their access to a lone business organization or to a single client, instead of sharing them among varied customers. Dedicated Hosting provides reliabilty, stability, usability, top security and safety for all servers, you can choose Decicated Hosting to get the benefits of top security, reliability and for high amount of resources to your major websites and businesses. If you own a sizable business and are looking forward to hire web host services, zeroing-in on this type of server could do loads of good for your business.

I'm now using 1 web and 1 db server (each sitting on Xeon, 4GB RAM). So if I'd moved to cloud, do i still need 2 instances (one for web and one for db)? Do i get 4GB RAM or 8GB RAM for each instance?

i will prefer dedicate server is best if you expect reliability, scalability and redundancy for your website and applications, a Cloud Hosting plan can be a perfect choice. It is a machine located in a physical space and has a proven track record of success and customer satisfaction. Dedicated servers provide storage to clients on an individual basis, allowing the user complete freedom and control over the system. The user can choose the operating system, upgrades, application use and installation of other features.

The Cloud computing Server enables us to store files and software remotely, rather than on a hard drive or server at their office.
Dedicated Server: One most important that we have to know what we are doing with a dedicated server since in most cases it is up to us to keep the server up to date and secure, to ensure that online hackers aren’t able to gain access to it and exploit it.

Cloud hosting is the latest form of hosting that has become extremely popular over the past few years. Cloud hosting has many advantages over the shared hosting services and sometimes performs better than dedicated hosting solutions. There are different cloud computing technologies and cloud hosting providers offer different cloud service platforms.

Cloud is a fancy term for a VPS really, lets you scale as you need more resources.
It would be just like a dedicated server as far as features, just more reliable... or less reliable, depends.

Cloud offers the advantage of scalability but at a cost. Dedicated servers are also on the more expensive side also but you have the most control when you host with a dedicated server. While Cloud does offer 100% uptime there will still be a possibility of failure always when you are dealing with machines. But, for the most part a dedicated still allows you to retain the most control.

The major difference between the both is that a Cloud computing is a virtual server which allows customization, load balancing, and storage and on the other hand dedicated server is a physical piece of equipment housed in a room somewhere.

In terms of security and reliability, a dedicated server can improve on a shared web hosting package or a VPS hosting server in the following reasons
-with shared hosting and VPS server hosting, we have to rely on other users which are hosted on the same server as we to keep their own websites and virtual servers secure so that they can’t be compromised by anyone else
-Dedicated servers provide us with our own dedicated environment in which we can run any programs we wish to since the server is us to do with as our wish

A dedicated server is physical equipment which is dedicated to a client on an individual basis. On the other hand, cloud computing is a virtual server that allows for customization, load balancing and storage. Choosing between a dedicated server or cloud hosting depends on your business needs, the amount of traffic your site gets and your budget.

A dedicated server is a computer in a network reserved or dedicated for serving a specific need. For example, a network may require that one computer be set aside to manage communications between all the other computers. A dedicated server could also be a computer that manages printer resources. In the Web or application hosting business, a dedicated server is a type of Internet hosting in which the client rents an entire server not shared with anyone. This is more flexible than shared hosting. You are not sharing the system resources such as processor power, memory and disk space with other users on the same server. You do not run the risk of the server being slowed down, swamped with traffic, or crashed by another site on a shared server. As nobody else has access to the server you can be sure of having a much greater degree of security. If you need to install special software or configure the server to your own particular needs then often a dedicated server is the solution. Run your own custom firewall to enforce your own access control policy. Your dedicated server has its own unique IP address. More memory, disk space or extra processors can be added as the need arises.
Cloud hosting is based on cloud computing technology. Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources, for e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, services, etc. that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. Cloud model promotes availability and is composed of five essential characteristics, viz., on-demand self-service, broad network access, resource pooling, rapid elasticity, and measured Service. Cloud computing offers an extremely efficient and a fault-tolerant system. Cloud computing allows you to set up or upgrade a server very quickly and automatically. With cloud computing technology, you can add, delete, upgrade, or downgrade server on-demand, and you pay only for what you use. Cloud computing offers users the convenience of on-demand, fully scalable computing and data storage services at lower costs. Cloud computing offers benefits including enhanced security, is financially more appealing to small and mid-size companies, robust backup facility, and offers pay-as-you-grow mode of doing business.

200,000 unique visitors per month is 6.500 visitors a day. Very good!
Definitely, Dedicated server. You MAY even have to have more than one server.
What will count is the number of SIMULTANEOUS visitors. Most SHARED servers set the limit at 50. Dedicated may set it to 3-500, but once it reaches more than that in a single time slice, you will have to increase the number of Dedicated servers. (not a problem for the hosting, if they know what they are doing.)

hi..
A Cloud Server is a process that runs on what’s called a hypervisor. This hypervisor software lets a single computer appear like it is a dozen or more computers. A single Cloud Server is just one of those processes. It appears to the user like a server, but it isn’t its own collection of hardware.
where as dedicated server is its own collection of hardware. It is a whole computer, complete with all hardware that makes up a computer including a processor, hard drive, RAM and power supply unit. eSecureData.com provides both Cloud Servers and Dedicated Servers to our clients.

Can you tell me the difference between Cloud Hosting and Dedicated server?
There is a lot of difference between cloud hosting and dedicated server.
In cloud hosting you can be connected to multiple servers at a time and can also increase server usage based on the requirement. This is termed as scalability. For IT infrastructure, many companies are now opting for IT support outsourcing (http://www.onthenetoffice.com/complete-it-support.html) as this reduces cost exponentially.
While dedicated servers are single servers managing all the requirements. the cost of dedicated server is very high in comparison with cloud. But in terms of security dedicated server hosting (http://www.onthenetoffice.com/managed_server_hosting.html) is more reliable than cloud.

There are many differences between the two systems. A dedicated system is a structure that works on a specified website that has been rented from a host. It has the advantage of providing services without the competition generally associated when multiple servers sharing a single site. Additionally, the monthly fee is always the same regardless of how much navigation or space is used.
Cloud computing, on the other hand, is becoming more popular in that it is capable of allowing for spikes in traffic, offers a broader range of exposure, and provides many amenities not available in the other option. Although it is a shared server, it can balance a higher load, easily expand websites based on individual needs, and provides hardware upgrades on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the cost is directly dependent on the amount of computer power required which often fluctuates widely in a new business.

A very outspoken post over at The Register makes it very clear what the risks are in this debate. While Cloud Computing is the current “big thing” and everybody seems to be getting in on the act – and we’re even assessing how it fits into future web development plans – there is still a solid argument for sticking with dedicated servers.
The reason is principally one of reliability and accountability, or more to the point that you can call somebody at 3am when the dedicated servers that you are paying hard currency for fail and know that somebody is feverishly scurrying around a data centre ensuring your SLA is upheld. As Ted Dziuba put it.

Are you considering a move to the cloud? Presenting many benefits, cloud hosting seems the most obvious choice for your hosting requirements. Sharing the resources of many servers, it offers a dynamic and highly scalable form of hosting that will grow with your business.
However, there are many types of cloud and traditional dedicated hosting solutions available. Careful consideration should be given to each and every one.
Both cloud and dedicated server hosting have unique features and benefits and the correct match between technology and business objectives is critical to gain a competitive edge.

Cloud hosting is a virtual server and dedicated server is physical equipment in which the server space is provided to a client on an individual basis. However, both these hosting plans are compatible to current business landscape and you can choose a plan in compliance with your business needs and the amount of traffic your e-commerce portal drawn.

The cloud hosting that mysterious place where Apple and Google send all your information is actually a virtual real-time environment that is hosted by multiple connected servers all at once. It’s a relatively new concept, but it’s spreading like wild fire and changing the way we think about data storage.
in dedicated hosting store your data in some unknown virtual environment, many companies choose to use their own dedicated servers. A dedicated server is exactly how it sounds – a server that someone buys or leases to manage all the data. It’s kind of like using your personal computer, but on a much grander scale. This is the most traditional route for hosting.

Majority of the VPS benefits of VPS are also applicable to a dedicated server. However, there are a couple of features that differentiate the two. Unlike VPS, you need to buy or rent the physical server, and also incur costs related to maintenance or management. Dedicated servers are mostly housed in Data centers, similar to collocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to collocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or application. You may either use a managed or an unmanaged dedicated server as per your convenience. But for cloud or Vps you can do the all management from software itself and its scalable, almost all providers use solusVM software to manage it. If your business have less traffic then you can go with cloud or VPS but if your business have good traffic hope dedicated is the best option for you.

Cloud Computing:
Cloud computing is still a new concept and in some companies it is still a foreign concept. But potentially it is predicted buy some experts, nonetheless, it becomes the sole solution of data storage and hosting in the future.
Dedicated Computing:
This is the traditional way of hosting and follows a simple protocol in which a user buys or leases a server from a provider and pays for that server’s full complement of resources, regardless of how much is utilized

There is a log of buzz around the world cloud these days. I am also going to give cloud a try and have tried to call a couple of hosting companies which claim that they are selling cloud hosting companies. Some of the things they told were pretty confusing and that is the reason i am here to discuss the difference between the two types of hosting Cloud Hosting and dedicated hosting and i want to compare these two.
Now one of the host i called says offers all types of hosting Cloud, VPS and dedicated but as i was interested only in their cloud services an asked them specifically that how much time it would take me if i upgrade my Ram and they said just a minute but after you do any sort of upgrade your web server may go down for upto an hour, so i am already thinking that what is the difference than if i even have to experience a down time even with the cloud hosting service. This thing have increased my confusion and now i just thing that cloud is just a word and they use this terminology just to sell their VPS at three times the prices of their normal packages.
Any body from other users of the forum may agree or disagree with me and actually i am very keen to hear from other people if there are any other differences between the two hosting types which you can tell.

-Cloud hosting is now applicable to the organizations of all sizes.. With cloud hosting payment can be made only for the resources that are used but with dedicated servers you are in need to pay for all the resources that are provided.
-A dedicated hosting service, dedicated server, or managed hosting service is a type of Internet hosting in which the client leases an entire server not shared with anyone else. This is more flexible than shared hosting, as organizations have full control over the server(s), including choice of operating system, hardware, etc. There is also another level of dedicated or managed hosting commonly referred to as complex managed hosting. Complex Managed Hosting applies to both physical dedicated servers, Hybrid server and virtual servers, with many companies choosing a hybrid (combination of physical and virtual) hosting solution. There are many similarities between standard and complex managed hosting but the key difference is the level of administrative and engineering support that the customer pays for – owing to both the increased size and complexity of the infrastructure deployment. The provider steps in to take over most of the management, including security, memory, storage and IT support. The service is primarily proactive in nature.[1] Server administration can usually be provided by the hosting company as an add-on service. In some cases a dedicated server can offer less overhead and a larger return on investment. Dedicated servers are most often housed in data centers, similar to colocation facilities, providing redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to colocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for operating systems or applications.

Dedicated server hosting -
If you want a hosting service for the large business or organization then I think dedicated hosting would be a good choice. If you are not worried about the cost then, dedicated hosting is all time good to go option for you.
This will provide you with a separate server and resources. But, to manage a dedicated server, the business needs dedicated IT team capacity and high level of management for the maintenance, upgrades and patches purpose.
Cloud hosting -
Cloud hosting provides you with a high level of performance and security. If you want to pay only as per your usage then cloud hosting can be a good choice.
The data hosted on the cloud is very elastic and you can easily up-scale or down-scale it as per your choice.

Cloud server hosting is becoming increasingly popular among growing businesses. Specifically, a dedicated cloud server runs as a virtualized hosting platform. Dedicated server hosting is a bit different. Rather than being a virtualized hosting option, dedicated servers are the hardware that is hosted and maintained within a physical data centre location.
