I want to host a few sites on a VPS and require different non-sequential IP addresses for each of these websites. How can I ask my hosting provider to supply me with such IP's without giving them a wrong impression?

In fact, I have no intention to use foul SEO strategies. I just do not want google to think that the sites are related in any way, besides being hosted by the same provider.

Just ask your hosting provider to provide you with a couple of C Class IP's. If he asks for a justification, you can tell him that I need to host eash website in a different IP subnet and provide him with your domain names that you will assign to those IP's. So the Hosting provider will be satisfied with your justification and he will provide you with C Class IP's.
