If there are 3 websites of same IP, shall i exchange links with all three?
some say that Google thinks of of same-IP websites as one unit only.
Is it true?

You should definitely avoid exchanging links with all three websites. It is absolutely true that Google is incredibly smart at detecting these patterns, and while it might not view them as a single literal unit, its algorithm treats multiple links from the exact same IP address with a lot of skepticism. If you link to all three, it creates a footprint that looks like a manipulative private blog network or a spam scheme, which can trigger a penalty. Furthermore, Google heavily discounts the value of subsequent links from the same server, meaning the second and third links will pass almost zero additional SEO value anyway. Your best move is to choose only the single most authoritative and relevant website out of the three for a link exchange, and skip the other two entirely to keep your backlink profile looking natural and diverse.
