In the current scenario Linux or Windows hosting plan, just doesn’t matter. Both the hosting platforms are equally efficient. One can expect maximum efficiency on both the hosting platforms. All you have to do is decide the hosting configurations required and select the appropriate hosting plan.

Simply said. Linux hosting is cheaper, because linux is free and windows (server) is not. If you want to host asp.net website, you don't have an option, because you need windows hosting.

Windows Hosting will always cost more because of licensing costs associated with a Windows server. Linux, being free, not costs.
