1. Make sure to properly check the guidelines of various article directories - some directories will strip out HTML and some don't. Make sure you take proper care of that in order to obtain maximum links with good anchor texts.

2. Don't use the same article(s) that you submit to article directories ON your website as that may trigger duplicate filters of search engines. If you want to, atleast tweak your article a bit.

3. Don't make too many links to your website in your article - as the chances of your article being approved decreases. As a rule of thumb, get one link in 'Article Body' and two links in 'Author Bio' - this works well for most of the article directories.

With the impact of the Google PANDA submitting so called SEO articles of 300 to 400 words to mulitple article directories are becoming less effective or even punished by the Google. Try to convert these articles into the blog posts and promote the blog. However, make sure the posts are of 800 words length and rich in content.

I agree with almost everything that you say, but I have to disagree with you on this that "Duplicate contents will be rejected by the directories and you will not be successful in your submissions." The truth is most article directories today accept "Duplicate content and the only which does not is Buzzle.

Where we share common agreement is on submitting articles that are unique and original because of the fact that the links that you get from those articles will be high-quality. And the links that you get from duplicate contents can be considered as low quality. The most important things in doing link building is not the amount of links that you get, instead it is the quality of those links which is going to make a difference.
