Sandbox happens because you don't have enough quality links pointing your site, thus you don't "deserve" much attention from google's deep crawler. Google is using two crawlers to index the web: one will check just your home page, the other one the entire site. The first comes almost immediately, the other one it's up to your site popularity (oneway backlink, mostly).

I have personally experienced the sandbox on new sites. Whenever I build links too fast to a brand new website my site disappears from google's search results. The only you can do is to continue to build backlinks and how you site gets good in Google's graces. I have had sites disappear for months and come back and some never comeback.
