I think that splash pages are really useless. Many people though use them! It is nothing but made for an introduction. There is an image with a ENTER button. The enter button will take you to the main home page of the site. Basically, this page takes some to load. Visitors have to wait for it and again they click for the home page. At times, it becomes very much irritating. I think the ideal situation is visitors can get to your webpage instantly if you remove this page and they will be able to access your website easily. Do you agree?

Depends on the type of site. For something such as record labels, splash pages are used to advertise new artists, new cd's, new tours, etc.
