Application? Wrong question, in a way. SSI stands for "Server Side Includes" and you can include SSI code in standard HTML pages: usually done to not repeat the same content on every page. Say, for example, a simple copyright note at the bottom of a HTML webpage that appears on all your pages (within the same domain).
