Does Participation in yahoo answers help to increase the serp result in Yahoo search engine..Is it a off page optimization technique? If I answer a question and give my site as resource box which not related to that theme then does it have any problem with it?

No i do not think this is possible.Because there are many factors which are helpful increase the rank in Yahoo Search engines.

But it hard to make that because lot of answer will reject by yahoo if they found out that not the best answer or even they think that is not related.
Please don't spam with unrelated answer and link . You will get banned . It will harm to your domain toward yahoo as well.
