PageRank is the numeric value given to your website based on its relevance and importance according to Google. Once upon time, it was a major contributing factor for Google’s algorithm, as a higher PageRank score (out of ten) signified that your site was useful and had a good trust factor with the search engines. Now the Google algorithm takes into account hundreds, if not thousands of contributing factors when determining where a site will fall in the SERP. While having a high PageRank is nice, it is by no means the most important factor or sign of SEO success.

Hello..
PageRank is a numeric value that represents how important a page is on the web. Google figures that when one page links to another page.PageRank is Google's way of deciding a page's importance. It matters because it is one of the factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results.

Once it has indexed you it calculates your link popularity and summarizes that with a PR rating. The more popular you are the more likely you are to be deep indexed. Then your quality content will come into play. You need PR for your content to matter.

Yes, PR used to be very important... but its out-moded now. Now Google and webmasters are least concerned with this metric. As PR does not impact your website's performance in very big way.

Page Rank of the website or webpage linking with your site is very important. This determines the number of votes that your website receives on account of such linking. Every new website or webpage starts with a Page Rank Zero. Google updates the Page Rank on a regular basis. Hence care must be taken to ensure that the web page you are linking with has a high PR.

Page rank is a numerical value which lies in between 1 to 10. Higher page rank is more beneficial for any website.

Google can't recommend you until it indexes you. Once it has indexed you it calculates your link popularity and summarizes that with a PR rating. PageRank is a good indicator of a website’s online value as seen by Google, but our concerns for a website with regards to assisting them with quality white-hat Natural Search consulting rely more in the area of traditional best practice SEO recommendations, unique content creation, press release and article distribution, and other forms of white-hat link building. PageRank has simply taken a backseat in the minds of our staff and clients.

It seems that the industry consensus is that PageRank really has taken a back seat, at least within the white-hat community, and that one should not be too concerned about their new PageRank score. Using PageRank as a measurement of a website’s popularity in the search engines still makes sense, and if a site has PageRank it will likely help your rankings if it links to you, especially if the website has high PageRank. Based on my read, and the read of the top players in the industry, website owners and webmasters need to stay focused on valuable content and being linked with authority sites. PageRank, really at the end of the day is just the icing on the cake.

Some webmasters disregard the PR when performing link building as it is not that important anymore unlike before. We can see sites that are low in PR but on top of the SERP.
