Grey Hat SEO is the kind of SEO which sits between White Hat SEO (ethical ) and Black Hat SEO (unethical). It’s not unethical in totality, but yes, it is bad and thus discouraged.
Google may either deindex your website or push you down in search results.
Common examples of Gray hat include link buying, link-wheeling, automated social media followers etc.

Gray hat seo techniques, as the name suggests are the mixture of white hat and black seo services. Gray hat rightly said by our respective friend is the risk and reward thing. Black hat seo activities are covered up the by the white hat seo work.

Black hat tactics are those which the search engines do not consider ethical. It is much spammy method.

Grey hat means less spammy than black hat technique.

Blackhat is techniques used to trick search engines into thinking a website is more relevant than it actually is, and a very unnatural process.

Whitehat is a natural website seo service and natural links, and natural tecniques are used to rank a website both obpage and off.

greyhat is a bit of both!

If you are smart then go for grey hat as grey hat also contains some blackhat and it may penalize your website.

Gray hat SEO is SEO techniques that take more risks than white hat SEO techniques but aren't likely to get your site banned from search engines (although a search engine penality could result). They're questionable SEO techniques but not in the same category as black hat SEO techniques. However, what's considered gray hat SEO today might be black hat SEO next year.
