It's a matter of simple math. There are exactly 10 spots on the first page in SERPs and if there are atleast 11 contending sites, Google will use its algos to decide which 10 to pick. Maybe the other 10 have more authority links, better content and offer improved user experience...So, instead of making a case here, look for opportunities and make the site better.

Google is very critical and it really needs a lot of time before you could rank number one in google search engine. specially if you have a lot of competitors, usually it takes one year to rank in google.
