Hi Everyone!

Do you want to know the Importance of Meta Tags? Have you ever heard the term "Meta Tags"? As a technical person i just want to share my knowledge with you.Meta tags are important for search engine optimisation for a couple of main reasons. The first being that some search engines use the contents of the keywords and description tags to determine the content of the page. In some search engines the content of these tags can have a bearing on the relevancy and ultimate rank of the document. The other reason is that some search engines use the contents of the description tag to display the snippet of information about the page in the search results page.

The character limit for meta data; 60-65 for Title & 160 for Description. Also Google is no more considering the Meta Keywords for ranking purpose but other search engines like Yahoo & Bing are still use them.

I believe title, url and heading tags of the page are most important for the on page techniques.
Rather meta tags like meta description and keywords are not considered by many search engines including Google.

The keyword tag is not particularly important in Google (which, lets be honest, is all that matters). The title tag is the most important and can have a significant influence on a website's ranking. The main aim of the description is to entice people to visit your site.

Meta tags are important factor of your website because they get crawled by search engine spiders and get indexed as the snipets of our sites. Other than that, they have no relevance to Search Engine Optmization, means they hold no weight to your page ranking. So, why are they so important then? How do meta tags work? What do search engines do with your sites meta tags? To answer those questions, you must first have an understanding what a meta tag really is.


Basically, meta tags are information inserted into the are of your sites HTML code. They are not visible by end users viewing your site. Instead, they are used to communicate with search engines.

Understanding the importance of Meta Description Tags and how they effect search engine result pages (SERP’s) is imperative if you want to climb the ladder within the pages of Google. Although these tags play a huge role in search engine optimization they are not seen by users, but by the search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc.). In addition Meta Tag Titles and Descriptions are not the only kind, you have meta refresh tags, meta http-equiv tags, meta copyright tags, meta robot tags, meta author tags, etc.

Meta Tags also helpful to get description about the Title, Description, Content, And Keyword about the website or web pages. These how the search engine algorithm detects these meta tag and index useful information into their database so that it will helpful in searching.
