Managed Web Hosting

With managed hosting, you will be using a form of dedicated hosting. That is, you will be using a dedicated server where you will have full administrative control over the server. The host provider will provide all of the essential technical services such as server set up and installation, your choice of software installation, monitoring including security monitoring 24/7, comprehensive customer support 24/7, software upgrades, and more. The host will mange and maintain the server’s performance to ensure reliability and high performance. Any problems that occur, the host will identify them and quickly and efficiently make the repair. You will normally pay a monthly fee for managed web hosting. Due to its convenience, reliability, and flexibility, many business webmasters will choose managed web hosting.

Colocation Hosting

Colocation is much like dedicated hosting. You will have your own server that is only used by you. You will not lease the server as you will own the server. That is, you will buy the server which can be quite expensive. With colocation hosting, you can store your server at a facility that has been designed to provide the highest security. Large enterprise will use colocation hosting as an effective server storage solution.

conclusion: The main difference between managed hosting and colocation is the amount of control. Because you own the server with colocation, you have complete control but you will need the IT team that has the ability to run the server and you will also need the budget to purchase the server. With managed hosting you will lease or rent the server making it a cheaper option.

There is also a big difference in prices between managed and co-location hosting. A co-located server could cost you several hundred at best while a managed server could cost in the range of 20 per month. Not too many will have a need for co-location but many have the need every day for a good managed server. You may also want to consider that some data centers don't insure your equipment so that is an additional cost that can be associated with the decision to co-locate.

Many organizations want to run their own hosting, but for the small businesses it is better to get fully managed web hosting.

The essential difference between colocation and managed hosting (http://www.myrealdata.com/realtime360d-server-management.html) is the degree to which the hosting provider takes care of management and administration tasks. Colocation services provider provisions rack space in a data centre, an Internet connection, and ensures the physical well-being of the machines. Everything else is left to the customer. Managed hosting services provide additional shared infrastructure, such as firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and staff to perform maintenance tasks. A managed service provider takes care of the entire hosting solution, including management of the operating system, Web server, databases, application servers, and the customer's applications. Colocation is more suited to companies who already have technical staff capable of managing the systems, and just require an Internet connection and the space to host their servers. On the other hand, companies that need to develop a Web presence can outsource to a managed hosting provider without having to hire technical staff. This is one of the reasons that there is a strong trend away from colocation to managed hosting.

Managed Hosting means the hosting provider manages the Hosting for you. The hosting provider takes care of all the Technical issues which occur with the server. He also updates the OS patches, security patches and takes care of all the security issues of your server. If you have any issues with your server, you just need to contact your hosting provider and his support staff will take care of the issue from there onwards.

Co-Location hosting is different from normal Shared, VPS or Dedicated server hosting. In all these hosting plans, the server hardware belongs to the hosting provider, you just rent some space or entire server by paying the applicable charges. You are not the owner of the server, you are just renting it. In Co-Location services, you own the server hardware and you keep server in some datacenter or with some hosting provider. Here you just need to pay the Rack charges, Power charges and Bandwidth charges. You are the owner of the server in Co-Location hosting.

Co-location is when you have your own hardware and you locate it at someone's datacentre using their power, space and technical assistance. Whereas managed hosting is when you opt for all the resources like hardware, space, power etc of the hosting company and pay them the required charges for the same. In both the cases you get the management of the server.

Managing web hosting can be best done by outsourcing the need to other companies that provide such service. But you should take into account that the most important thing is to look for a good web host.

If you want you can go for web hosting with the help of some organizations that can enable handling situations themselves. Incorporating a good web host is quite important.

You can't really say which of these is "better" as such. It depends on what you are after from your hosting. Colocation is a good solution if you are looking to essentially host a site yourself but don't have the facilities to host it at your own premises. If you have complex hosting needs but don't have the required expertise then managed hosting is a good option.

Price: Your start-up expenses will be greater with colocation organizing due to the fact that you will certainly require to acquire a server. Handled hosting will cost you month-to-month leasing costs so the cost is spread out over a longer amount of time.

Ownership: With colocation holding you own your server whereas with managed hosting the server is possessed by your holding carrier. You are renting the room to house your web server with colocation as well as with handled holding you are renting the actual server.

Control: Because you in fact possess your web server with colocation holding you have outright complete control over it. With taken care of organizing, on the other hand, you have a lot less control. This is since you are just renting area on a computer system and also you do not really possess it. Several firms do choose this alternative though due to the fact that they do not want to have to take care of handling their server themselves.

Hardware Upgrades: If you believe that your web server is running too slow and also perhaps requires even more memory, after that you are free to upgrade it yourself with colocation holding. If you use handled holding, then your holding service provider will need to upgrade your maker.

Software Choices: With colocation hosting, you can select the types of software that you want to set up. If you determine to make use of ColdFusion or ASP you can merely acquire the application as well as install it yourself. With managed holding, you the holding company will certainly require to mount the software program or tools that you need or intend to use.
