If you want to get traffic to your website, you can always spend money on Google Adwords and other paid methods of advertising. However, search marketing industry experts have shown that 40% of visitors will find a website on search engines through natural search queries.

Here are the basics:

Website Navigation and Design: A site that is easily navigated will not only be more popular with search engines but with site visitors as well. When good design is combined with good navigation, it makes for a good visitor experience, and easier crawling by the search engine spiders, as well.

Keyword Density and Keyword Relevance: Search engines such as Google decide what websites appear at the top of search results based on a number of factors, including site reputation and relevance. The latter is in part determined by keyword density, or the number of times a particular keyword or phrase appears in a page's content.

Inbound Links: Search engines also factor in the number as well as the quality of inbound links to your website in determining your site's relevance to a given keyword.

SEO optimization rules say that you should keep all relevant content you want spidered under 100KB?
If this is true.. How do you find out where your 100kb spot is on the website. How do you test the download rate?

Do Not Cheat. Period.

If you walked into a room full of genius scientists with PHDs, do you think you could outsmart them all? No. Google has hundreds of rooms full of genius scientists with PHDs, and their job is to work 60 hours a week to make sure you can’t fool Google. You can’t outsmart them. Ever. Ignore any advice on trying to cheat the system and focus on making great web sites with great content, and your sites will show up fine in searches.
Rule One: Stick to Your Keywords
