Off-page and On-page both are important part of seo. Off page SEO is doing things off-site to bring your website rankings. The only thing you can do off-page to incraese your rankings is build up more quality backlinks. More backlinks will surely helpful for better Google PageRank and better search engine rankings.

And other side, on-page are also important in SEO process. On-page seo is helpful for manage internal structure for website. like website content, keyword selection, meta tag etc. on page work on, how to appear your site in search engine listing.

They're both important. What the OP was asking for was for the differences between the two. Yes, the methods involved are different, but the most basic answer that you can give to that is this: On-page SEO involves tinkering with the site itself so that it will be seen by search engines. Off-page SEO, on the other hand, involves the spreading of the links and doesn't have to do with any tinkering of the website you're optimizing.

In on page SEO we deals with the coding part of the particular page of the website but in off page SEO we deal with internet marketing. It is more efficient technique than ON page SEO
