What is the difference between relevant and irrelevant links? It is there a way to distinguish relevant links from the crappy links? My site has no content on it. I have more than 500 pages linking to it from my forums signatur.

Relevant links are those which relates with your business keyword and has anchor text that matches with your product or service keyword while irrelevant links are those which are coming from the websites which content doesn't match with your business but yes it could be come from the high authority sites like government or educational sites.

If the links bring lot of quality traffics, target the same keywords and have similar topic content,then it will be relavant. If the site do not have similar topic, target huge difference keywords and bring high bounce rate traffics, then it will call as unrelavant links.
