what is the difference between backlink and external link?

why my backlink is 50,but external links are 100?
i thought backlink include external link,
and the amount of backlink should be bigger than external link.


i want to know the eaxct difference ,thanks for any response.

Back links(inbound links) are those links which are pointing to your website from other sites and external links(outbound kinks) are those links which are pointing to other site from your website.

About the number of backlinks that you're going to make, it's true that it's good to have a lot of links pointing to your site, but you shouldn't try and game the system by creating a lot of them at a time. Google doesn't like link spammers one bit. Yes, they may work, but they're not going to work in a long-term sense. You should let the people create those inbound links if you really have great content in your site.

Simple way of putting it....

backlink = inbound link to your site.
external link = outbound link on your web page to another website's web page.
