It’s not that search engines open a Pandoras box each New Year...The techniques remain the same. But Google’s been focusing more on improving user experience....which means you should be continuing to offer value, keep useful content above the fold, not indulge in cheap link buying practices & write content that attracts links. Also, it announced an Over optimization penalty lately which means you should steer clear from keyword stuffing and link spamming.
