Collocation hosting helps minimize downtimes and increase availability. he hosting company that stores your server monitors and troubleshoots it for you. With colocation hosting, you can be assured of high security for your server as the hosting company’s datacenters are well equipped for it. With the colocation model of management, you can reduce set up and maintenance costs significantly. Since you don’t need to maintain a datacenter of your own, you save costs.

Colocation hosting offers many advantages, such as, everything is fully customizable; server is stored in location that has security; location of storage contains fast internet connection, security, rooms designed specifically for the servers; high bandwidth available; large amount of storage space; the servers are as fast, powerful and high-capacity as you purchase; can update/upgrade at will, must purchase equipment only; maximum uptime for large sites; increased flexibility; better performance because you determine the hardware specs; savings on overall hosting costs; decreased dependence on external customer support services, as most administration and maintenance can be performed through remote administration; ability to use existing hardware; more control over web server administration; etc.

Co-location means that you rent specific space to house your servers along with the servers of other companies in a common physical location. Each company's equipment is physically secured inside a lockable wire cage or a cabinet. Co-location offers you the flexibility to upscale your technology and requirements as your business grow, without having to make repeated capital investments. When you enter into a co-location agreement with us, you pay a much lower annual fee and are assured of a high level of services without the bother.

The most important advantage of Colocation are:

1: Colocation facilities have better outage protection. During a long ice-storm last year, my office was without power for three days. While we have a backup generator, it wasn't powerful enough to keep the server running that entire time, so our Web sites were down during that outage. At a colocation provider, we are paying for power generators and backup power to protect against that type of situation.

2: Most colocation servers offer a service where they will manage and maintain your server for you for an extra cost. This is especially useful if you don't have IT team members or your office is located far from the provider.

This - "Collocation hosting helps minimize downtimes and increase availability" - is far from being true. I don't think I'd be explaining Colocation as there is a Wikipedia page about it. One just need to go and check that one.

Colocation has become a popular option for companies with midsize IT needs—especially those in Internet related business—because it allows the company to focus its IT staff on the actual work being done, instead of the logistical support needs which underlie the work.

The benefits of having a colocation are that sharing data centre infrastructure gives the client’s time and cost savings. This frees the internal bandwidth of companies for their core business activities. A custom build location for colocating provides facilities like cooling towers, round the clock security cover, customised rack spaces, uninterrupted power backup etc. They also provide internal connectivity among servers for easy n quick transfer of information among the servers. The external connections are provided by fibre optic cables and wireless satellite connectivity ensuring uninterrupted connectivity.

Many business owners find the thought of moving important data and resources to an off-site colocation facility overwhelming and a little bit scary. We understand. Handing your integral systems and information off to another party isn’t something to be taken lightly.
