Well, It depends upon the forum only. If you're using niche forum for link building which has good authority for SEO perspective then you'll quality link juice. On the other hand, if you're getting links from low quality forums where mostly comments are only for spamming purpose then you won't get any link juice and such links could negatively affect your website.

Posting in relevant forums will definitely help get new visitors and as far as Google goes, now they might say forums links are bad tomorrow they might say blog links are bad. What do we do then?
