There are two types of redirects you can use, a 301 and a 302. These numbers refer to the HTTP Status Code returned by the server for a given URL. A 301 redirect tells the search engine that the page has moved permanently to the new URL. A 302 redirect tells the search engine that the move is only temporary, and you may decide to show content at the original location in the future without a redirect.

301 and 302 both are redirection of http errorcodes which means are given below:

301: 301 Moved permanently,This and all future requests should be directed to the given URI.

302: 302 Found, This is an example of industry practice contradicting the standard.

We use 301 & 302 to redirect the website URL when we need to change or replace URL at that time we can use this. 301 redirect is used for permanent redirect and 302 is used for temporary redirect.

301 & 302 are redirect response codes. 301 is for permanent redirection while 302 is a temporary redirection. If a page is moved to another location using 301 redirection will help you to gain the authority and back links of the old page to the new one. 302 can be used when you are in a situation to place a do follow link of another domain on your site. 302 redirection will not pass link juice to the page which has a link on your page.

This is the reason why you do not want to lose SEO rankings, or confuse search engines when you update your web domain. Many people use a temporary/found (302) or permanent (301) redirect to avoid this. There are quite a few different types of redirect pages, but the 301 Redirect is the best for SEO rankings.

The 302 redirect is for accurately these situations. This technique public will still use the unique URL but end up on a dissimilar one and you won’t drop your valuable rankings for the reason that your site is presently engaged.

The 301 redirect is permanent. You allow the search engines identify that your sites was permanently motivated to the fresh address. Any inbound links to the old URL will have their search engine ranking standards qualified to the latest page of your website. This method when you permanently move your sites to a fresh domain your inbound links will still calculate.

301 Moved Permanently

A 301 Redirect is a permanent redirect which passes between 90-99% of link juice (ranking power) to the redirected page. 301 refers to the HTTP status codes for this type of redirect. In most instances, the 301 redirect is the best method for implementing redirects on a website.
302 Found (HTTP 1.1) / Moved Temporarily (HTTP 1.0)

A 302 Redirect is a temporary redirect and passes 0% of link juice (ranking power) and in most cases should not be used. The Internet runs on a protocol called HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) which dictates how URLs work. It has two major versions, 1.0 and 1.1. In the first version 302 referred to the status code 'Moved Temporarily'. This was changed in version 1.1 to mean 'Found'.
