It is linking to a very specific page as opposed to going to a page that could lead you to the exact page you are looking for. This link can help expound this term:

Deep linking is a tool used by websites to point a visitor directly to a page within the website instead of the landing page or front page of the site. Deep linking allows visitors to go directly to the information they require, which may be available on a certain page of the website, but not on the web page to which the basic link leads. Businesses participate in deep linking through search engines so that they can guide visitors to what they need quickly, as well as keeping the attention of the visitor in hopes that the visitor will find the information, product, or service that he or she needs and not leave the website because it was difficult to find that information on a different page. Deep linking is also an excellent way to take visitors directly to a product on a web page and not have them go through multiple pages to find it, especially on a website that has numerous products.Deep linking is a part of search engines that many visitors appreciate because it makes discovering what they are looking for easier. Professionals in the field though, feel that deep linking is a problem, and while there are certainly arguments for both sides, it is eventually up to the particular website whether it wishes to be deep linked or not.

Hello guys

Deep linking is creating a hyperlink that points to a specific web page or a picture on some website. The url of a deep link contains all the information for pointing to the respective item. Most of the commercial websites object the other websites by creating deep links into their content. This is mainly done either to avoid the advertising done on the main pages.

Thanks and regards

A deep link is a term used to describe a link pointing to any section of a web page that is not the home page. For example, if someone linked to this definition instead of the Computer Hope main page, that would be considered a deep link.

Links that go directly to a product will please the user and enhance usability. There are many shopping portals on the Internet and many of these have basic links to a merchant’s homepage. Generic links do not meet the user’s goals. Do you really want to send your users to a page where they have to click 4 or 5 times to get to the product or information? You need to add value to your site and deep linking is a great way to do this.

In the context of the World Wide Web, deep linking is the use of a hyperlink that links to a specific, generally searchable or indexed, piece of web content on a website, rather than the website's home page. The URL contains all the information needed to point to a particular item.
