Depends. If you run your own company, you understand how SEO works to the core, you thrive to learn more from your own experiments and by attending seminars - then yes, there is a FUTURE in SEO. There are PLENTY of POSERS nowadays using 'experts' 'guru' etc. who doesn't even run their own website on top of search engines.
SEO specialists do not depend $ by just being an employee. They set up their own niche too and run ads or sell stuff online, do the SEO (where they're good at), that's where the 'moolah' comes in. ;-)
