Deep link is a device used by sites to point a guest straight to a web page within the web page instead of the web page or home web page of the site. Deeply connecting allows guests to go straight to the information they require, which may be available on a certain web page of the web page, but not on the web page to which the primary link brings.

The technology behind the World Wide Web, the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), does not actually make any distinction between "deep" links and any other links all links are functionally equal. This is intentional; one of the design purposes of the Web is to allow authors to link to any published document on another site. The possibility of so-called "deep" linking is therefore built into the Web technology of HTTP and URLs by default while a site can attempt to restrict deep links, to do so requires extra effort. According to the World Wide Web Consortium Technical Architecture Group, "any attempt to forbid the practice of deep linking is based on a misunderstanding of the technology, and threatens to undermine the functioning of the Web as a whole"

A hyperlink to a page on a Web site that is not the home page. Although Web sites and blogs routinely provide countless deep links to other Web sites, the subject is somewhat controversial. Owners of some sites have complained that deep links bypass the ads on their home pages and cause them financial harm.

Deep Linking or Front Page Linking?
I am looking for help with back links. I am trying to find out whether it is better to always link to the front page (i.e domain) or to interior pages for specific keywords.

Basically deep linking is the linking of information to another page from a website page instead of the actual home page itself. Some companies or individuals request or prohibit a user from creating deep links to their web page because they believe a user may be confused by who is providing the information.
